While some of the changes the game make are fun and interesting, it does lead to a strange dissonance of exploring a familiar but slightly uncanny world. Resources are found in veins on the surface since the land is completely void of cave systems. Mobs can be commanded alongside you to fight back the unnatural invasion.
Piglins enter the overworld without Nether portals while netherrack and lava slowly spreads around their bases. While it is filled with familiar biomes, villages, and mobs, the rules of the world are bent to fit the spin-offs narrative. The worlds themselves that you explore and fight for in "Legends" are also markedly different from a standard "Minecraft" world. Each of the entities give you an artifact to help in your fight: two small creatures that can be used to gather resources and build structures, a lute to command the creatures, and a banner to give commands to small golem units in combat.

There were many factions on SMPEarth, all player-created and owned. To become whitelisted, it was required to know a creator who is a member of it and have several other creators vouch for them. There were many content creators and livestreamers who played on the server. It appears to be a plane that can be used to communicate with the search party for Mariah. The reasoning behind this simulation is unknown, though it has been specified that SMPEarth was supposed to have been shut down a while ago. Lore-wise, SMPEarth is a simulation ran presumably by the company Laramie Online. The lore of SMPEarth was revealed through its 2 ARGs, the 7 ARG and the Octangula ARG. There were also two active ARGs that took place on the server - The Octangula ARG, ran by Chip, and the '7 ARG', ran by JoshA20. The server had an official website (and merchandise), a dynamic map, a Wiki, a twitter, a community discord, and a subreddit. Some other plugins, including guns, planes, grenades, and airstrikes, and custom crafting recipes were also present on the server. The server utilized a factions plugin to simulate nations and geopolitics, and wars and factions were declared using it. It later became solely a Towny server after the Factions server closed. Additionally, while the private server only ever used Factions plugins, the Public server was split into both a Factions server and a Towny server. While on the public server it is possible to /f home, /warp, or /tpa, these commands were disabled on the creator server. Some notable differences between the private server and public server at first included a lack of planes or shops, though those were added later.
The server was in its beta testing phase from Day 82 to Day 94.
